Welcome!

For many years the Jehovah's Witnesses have held their district conventions throughout major cities in the United States as well as around the world. From June 24-26, 2011, the Utah congregations of Jehovah's Witnesses will gather together at Weber State University's Dee Events Center in Ogden, Utah.

There are some teachings that are unique to this religion, including:

  • God's proper name is Jehovah
  • Christ (who is the same as Michael the Archangel) is inferior to the Father
  • Christ died on a stake, not a cross
  • Only 144,000 go to heaven and rule with Christ while the "Great Crowd" (everyone not a JW before 1914) can live forever on "Paradise Earth"
  • Those not going to heaven or Paradise Earth will be annihilated (soul sleep)
  • Blood transfusions for medical purposes are against God's law
  • Celebrations of holidays and birthdays as well military service are ungodly and are not tolerated at the Kingdom Hall
Yet the leadership from Brooklyn won't tell you that:
  • The word "Jehovah" is a word made up in the Middle Ages that came from combining the Hebrew words YHWH and Adonai—in fact, it is neither a Hebrew nor a Greek word
  • The Bible teaches that Jesus is not only equal in authority with the Father but is, in fact, God in the flesh (literally, "God with us" — Matthew 1:23)
  • The cross of Christ, not a "stake," is emphasized in scripture
  • Those having personal relationships with Jesus will spend eternity with God in heaven
  • Hell is a real place of eternal separation from the God of the Bible
  • Many innocent Jehovah's Witnesses—including too many children to count—have died because they didn't get the proper medical help due to a faulty interpretation the Watchtower Society makes from the book of Leviticus
  • God is a God of holidays—consider the many Jewish holidays and celebrations!—and service to one's country is never admonished in scripture

WHO WE ARE?

You might have wondered, "Who would have come out on these hot, sunny days to hold out signs while thousands of Witnesses drove away from their district convention?" We are Evangelical Christians from no particular church or denomination who have decided it's very important to inform you about the wrong biblical interpretation taught by the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society. Really, we do care very much for you. If we didn't, then think about this: Why would we take the time out of our evenings just to stand out here with signs? Couldn't we have found other things to do in our busy schedules?

Yet if you are a JW, we think you will understand our sincere desire to share what we believe is true since you most likely hold up Watchtower magazines on street corners or knock on neighborhood doors on a regular basis in order to share your faith. Don't you do this because you care about the people with whom you share the Watchtower gospel? Just as you must care for others not of your faith, so do we. Perhaps our JW critics are right and everything we are saying is wrong. But, you would have to admit, our sincerity cannot be questioned.

But what if we are right? What if your leadership has made some serious errors about the most important questions we all have in life? As the theme of the JW convention from two years ago ("Follow the Christ") asked, "Who are the real followers of Christ?" According to the Bible, real followers understand:

  1. A relationship with the true Jesus of the Bible is to be sought over anything else.
  2. Justification (salvation) comes only by faith and not by church membership or good deeds.
  3. The importance of worshiping God in "spirit and in truth" (John 4:24)
  4. The Bible is God's Word and must be obeyed over any teachings written or taught by human authority.
One thing is for sure, Jehovah's Witnesses and Evangelical Christians cannot both be right. Truth is vital here since our eternal destinies are at stake. If what we are saying is not true, then by all means, reject what we say. Yet even though JW leaders might not approve their members searching for truth outside the bounds of their organization, it behooves you to consider what we might have to say and see if what we are saying is biblical.

In fact, here are a half dozen excellent web sites—none of them are ours—that you might want to consider from the privacy of your own home:

Go ahead and see what these sites have to say. If the Watchtower organization really is true, then you have nothing to lose because error will always run from truth, but truth will never run from error. But what if the Watchtower organization was wrong after all? It's worthwhile to check it out!

Maybe you object to what has been written. Or perhaps you would like to inquire further and talk with one of us. If so, we would be more than happy to dialogue as long as it is in a proper manner with the right spirit. If you are concerned about contacting us for fear your leadership would find out, we promise to keep our communication confidential. Feel free to communicate with us. Our email is . You can be anonymous, and we will not give your name to anyone else. Or, if you are willing, we'll buy the coffee if you wanted to meet with us at a public venue so you can ask us questions about what this is all about. As 1 Peter 3:15-16 says, we should always have an answer for everyone who asks us.

May God bless your sincere seeking of truth!
